Overview

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, also known as The Woods or SMWC, is located in Saint Mary-Of-The-Woods, Indiana, United States. It was established in 1841 as an academy for young women. It was founded by Saint Mother Theodore Guerin, a French nun. It is the oldest Catholic, liberal arts college in the United States that offers higher education for women. The campus spreads across an area of more than 65 acres. SMWC offers several degrees and certificate programs and is organized into the following academic departments:
