Overview

Salt Lake Community College was established in 1948 as the Salt Lake Area Vocational School. The first class commenced on September 14, 1948. It became Salt Lake Trade Technical Institute in 1959 and adopted its present name in 1987. The college is commonly abbreviated as SLCC and offers two campuses in South City and Jordan.

SLCC offers over 100 degree programs in technical, academic, and vocational fields. Some of the academic departments of SLCC are automotive and related technologies, building construction/construction management, computer information systems, and manufacturing and mechanical engineering technology.

Salt Lake Community College Athletics are known as the Bruins. The men’s spots include baseball, golf, soccer, and basketball. The women’s sports include basketball, volleyball, and tennis.
