Overview

Salus University was established by the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, also known as PCO, and is one of the oldest optometry schools. Located in Elkins Park, PA, PCO was established in 1919. PCO was the first school in the United States to award the four-year Doctor of Optometry degree and the first to offer courses in contact lenses. In addition to Doctor of Optometry program, PCU offers small group problem based programs. It operates 'The Eye Institute’ which is the main clinical facility of PCO.

PCO has an active student life. There are several student groups, organizations, and honor societies which operate in the campus. American Academy of Optometry, Lions Club, and Beta Kappa Sigma are some of the clubs and organizations operated by the students. The student council has several communities which includes Athletic Committee, Clinic Committee and Community Service Committee.
