Overview
San Diego City College was established in 1914 as San Diego Junior College. It was the first community college in San Diego and enrolled 35 students in its first year. The college is also referred to as City College and is part of the San Diego Community College District. City College covers more than 55 acres near Balboa Park in San Diego, California, and features around 40 buildings.
City College has numerous academic and vocational programs. Some of the academic departments of the college are business studies, computer information systems, manufacturing engineering technology, and visual and performing arts. Scholarships offered by City College are The Associated Student Body Scholarship, Academic Achievement and Leadership Award, Clara Dixon Ecology Scholarship, and Brenda Jean Murphy Memorial Scholarship.
The student clubs and organizations of City College include Amnesty International Club, French Club, National Society of Black Engineers, Phi Theta Kappa, and Puente Club to name a few.
