Overview

San Diego State University, also called SDSU, was established in 1897 as the San Diego Normal School. It was renamed the San Diego State Teachers College in 1923 and the San Diego State College in 1935.

In 1970, the university adopted its present name. There is also a campus in Imperial Valley.

Many students concentrate in nutrition and exercise therapy, therapy and counseling, art studies, and liberal arts. There are many part-time students. The academic divisions of San Diego State University are:
