Overview
Santa Monica College is a public community college located in Santa Monica, California. The institution was first established in 1929 as the Santa Monica Junior College. The college campus stretches over an area of 38 acres of urban land.
Santa Monica College offers a number of certificate programs in fields such as accounting, fashion design and office information systems. The Academy of Entertainment Technology within the college offers certificates in interactive media and animation.
Santa Monica College’s sports teams are called the Corsairs. The mascot for SMC is Pico the Corsair. SMC sponsors men's teams in basketball, cross country, swimming, track and field, volleyball, water polo, and football. For women, the college sponsors basketball, cross country, swimming, track and field, volleyball, water polo, softball, soccer, and tennis teams.
