Overview

Schreiner University is a private, liberal arts university located in Kerrville, Texas. It was founded by Captain Charles Schreiner in 1917 as the Schreiner Institute, and was established in 1923 as a military institute for boys. The institute stopped providing military training in 1971, and in 1973 it was renamed Schreiner College. In 1982, it became a four-year college, and a university in 2001.

Schreiner University's athletic teams are known as the Mountaineers and participate in baseball, basketball, golf, cross country, tennis and soccer. Greek life at Schreiner University includes national fraternities Chi Phi- Iota Theta Chapter and Phi Delta Theta- Texas Sigma Chapter, and national sororities Delta Phi Epsilon- Gamma Gamma Chapter and Alpha Sigma Alpha- Theta Epsilon Chapter.
