Overview
Seattle Community College’s central campus, also known as Seattle Central Community College, is located in Seattle, Washington. It is one of the 3 colleges under the Seattle Community College District. In 1902, SCC opened as the Broadway High School. In 1946, it was renamed the Edison Technical School. After it began offering college-level courses in 1966, it was named the Seattle Community College. The North Seattle Community College and the South Seattle Community College began functioning in 1970, when the Seattle Community College was given its present name.
The central campus of Seattle Community College offers one and two year degree certificate programs, continuing education programs and college transfer courses in various areas of study. The college also has programs specifically designed for women. The Women in Science and Engineering club and the Women In Society club are student organizations that offer information, guidance and support to its female students.
