Overview
South Seattle Community College was founded in 1970. It is situated in West Seattle, Washington. The college is a part of the Seattle Community College District. It also offers an Industrial Education Center in Georgetown. In 2007, the college enrolled more than 7,500 students.
SSCC offers a number of degree programs and certificate programs. Some of the academic departments of the college are the math department, engineering and computer science department and the English department. The college also offers many scholarships, such as the Americorps Scholarship and Grants, AWS International Scholarship, Coca-Cola Two-Year College Scholarship, Culinary and Hospitality Management Scholarships and Minority Student Scholarships.
The Afro-American Student Union, Chinese Club, Engineering Club, Ethiopian Student Association, International Students Club, Muslim Student Association, SSCC Theater Group, Vietnamese Club, Computer Users Club and the Latino Club are some of the students clubs and organizations of SSCC.
