Overview

Seattle Pacific University, also referred to as SPU, was established in 1891. It is a Christian university located on the slope of Queen Anne Hill in Seattle, Washington. SPU is a university of liberal arts and sciences and offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in diverse areas of study. The university records an enrollment of over 3,500 students every year. It was originally created as Seattle Seminary and College in 1913. After a few name and status changes it was given its present name in 1977.

ASSP, Associated Students of Seattle Pacific, organizes various events and hosts a number of clubs for the students' recreation. Some of the notable alumni of SPU are Eugene H. Peterson of 1954, Author of The Message; Ken Bone of 1982, Basketball Coach (Portland State University); and the members of the band Acceptance.
