Overview

Shaw University is a historically-black, private university located in Raleigh, North Carolina, United States. It was founded in 1865 by the American Baptist Home Mission Society of the Baptist Church. The institution achieved university status in 1875 and was christened Shaw University the same year. The university now grants admission to more than 2,000 students every year.

The academic divisions of Shaw University include the following:
