Overview
Somerset Community College was formed after the merger between Somerset Community College, Laurel Technical College and Somerset Technical College in 2002. The original Somerset Community College opened its doors in 1965 and was initially a part of the Community College System of the University of Kentucky.
Apart from its original base in Pulaski County, Kentucky, the college has 4 centers and an additional campus. SCC established its first off-campus center in London in 1992. Three more centers were established in Whitley City, Russell Springs and Albany in the coming years. SCC established a branch campus at Casey County, Kentucky in 2007. The college offers associate degrees, diplomas and certificates. It also provides opportunities for distance education through televised courses and online classes.
