Overview

South Georgia Technical College, also known as SGTC, is located in Americus, Georgia, United States. It was originally known as Southern Air Field and served as an Air force training facility. In 1948, it was established as South Georgia Trade and Vocational School. It was renamed to South Georgia Technical and Vocational School in 1963. It adopted its present name in 1988. It is spread across an area of approximately 1,000 acres in Americus. SGTC also has a satellite campus in Cordele, Georgia. It boasts of an enrollment of approximately 2,000 students per term.

The students of SGTC can get involved in several clubs and organizations. Some of these include the Student Leadership Council, National Technical Honor Society, Phi Beta Lambda, Skills USA, and JETS Orientations Team.

SGTC competes in the Georgia Junior College Athletic Association. Their sports teams are known as the Jets and Lady Jets.
