Overview

The Southeast Missouri Hospital College of Nursing & Health Sciences was originally established as the Southeast Missouri Hospital School of Nursing in 1928. It became the College of Nursing in 1995 and, following further expansion, was renamed the Southeast Missouri Hospital College of Nursing and Health Sciences in 2000. It now incorporates the School of Medical Technology. Commonly referred to as the SEMO College of Nursing & Health Sciences, this private, non-profit institute is located in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. It also operates a satellite campus in Kennett, Missouri.

SEMO College of Nursing & Health Sciences offers Associate of Applied Science degree programs in nursing and radiologic technology. Certificate courses in surgical technology, along with special clinical programs of study in medical technology and clinical laboratory science are also available. The Kennett campus also offers the LPN to RN Bridge program, which leads to an associate’s degree.

Students of SEMO College of Nursing & Health Sciences participate in on-campus organizations like the Student Council and the National Student Nurse Association. Financial aid is provided to eligible candidates in the form of Federal grants, student loans and Veterans Benefits. Students are also awarded scholarships like the Hazel Harrison Strickler Scholarship, the Dorothy Kies Penzel Scholarship, the Leona Trimble Scholarship, the Charlotte Black Sargeant Scholarship, Coca Cola Scholarships and the Nursing/Allied Health Scholarship.
