Overview

Southeast Missouri State University is a public, accredited university located in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, United States. It was established in 1873. It was earlier known as Southeast Missouri State Normal School. In 1973, it was renamed to Southeast Missouri State University. As of 2006, the University had an enrollment of over 10,000 students.

The Capaha Arrow is the University's student-run newspaper. It was established in 1911 and is one of the oldest college newspapers still in publication. There are many student clubs and organizations on campus.

Southeast Missouri has an active Greek life with several fraternities and sororities on campus. Some of them are Delta Chi, Lambda Chi Alpha, Pi Kappa Alpha, and Phi Delta Theta. They are governed by Interfraternal Council Fraternities (IFC), Panhellenic Conference, and National Pan-Hellenic Conference.

Athletics

School sports include football, basketball, baseball, and track. The school is in the Ohio Valley Conference for major sports.
