Overview

Southern Adventist University is located in Collegedale, Tennessee, United States. It opened in the year 1892 and was founded by Professor George Colcord and his wife, Ada. It was formerly known as Graysville Academy. It gained university status in the year 1996. The university offers degree programs in various areas of study including history, religion, nursing, visual art and design, technology, and journalism and communication. There are also online courses available to outstation students.

Southern Adventist University supports a large number of student clubs and organizations. Among those available on campus are the Asian Club, Black Christian Union (BCU), Student Organization for Deaf Awareness (SODA), College Democrats of Southern Adventist University, Latin American Club, and Expressions of Praise. The students of the university also operate a radio station called WSMC-FM.
