Overview
Southern Illinois University Carbondale, also referred to as SIUC or SIU, is located in Carbondale, Illinois, United States. The Carbondale campus is the flagship campus of the Southern Illinois University system. It was founded in 1869. SIU ranks as one of the top public universities in Illinois. The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching has ranked SIU as the “Doctoral Research Extensive”. Athletics
School sports include football (Division I-AA Independents), basketball (Missouri Valley Conference), baseball (Missouri Valley Conference), and track (Missouri Valley Conference).
