Overview

Southern New Hampshire University was established in 1932 as the New Hampshire School of Accounting and Secretarial Science. It was founded by Harry A.B. Shapiro and his wife Gertrude Crockett Shapiro. It was renamed as the New Hampshire College of Accounting and Commerce in 1961 and to New Hampshire College in 1969. The college gained university status on July 1, 2001, when it adopted its current name. It is also referred to as SNHU. The university offers a number of undergraduate and graduate programs and is organized into various academic divisions:

  • School of Liberal Arts
  • School of Professional & Continuing Education

The Student Government Association, the Coordinators of Activities and Programming Events and the Inter-Greek Council are the student Governing organizations of SNHU. In addition, there are several other clubs and organizations on campus, including the Commuter Student Council, the Muslim Student Association, the Christian Student Organization, Eta Sigma Delta, the International Business Association, Phi Delta Theta, Kappa Lambda, Phi Delta Psi and Eta Sigma Delta.
