Overview
Southern State Community College, also known as SCCC, is located in Hillsboro, Ohio, United States. It was founded in 1975 as Southern State General and Technical College. It received its present, official name in 1977. In addition to its main campus in Hillsboro, SSCC has four other campuses located throughout the southern Ohio area. These campuses serve Brown, Adams, Fayette, Clinton, and Highland Counties.
The college offers associate degrees in technical and transfer programs, and a variety of workforce training programs and adult basic literacy courses. It also offers students seven certificate programs. Presently, approximately 75 percent of the student population receives some form of financial assistance.
SCCC sponsors numerous clubs and organizations including Phi Theta Kappa, Medical Assistants Club, Student Nurses Association, REACH, and Students in Action. The college has many athletic teams such as baseball, basketball, softball, soccer, and volleyball.
