Overview

Southern Wesleyan University, also referred to as SWU, is located in Central, South Carolina, United States. It was established in 1906 as the Wesleyan Methodist Bible Institute. The first classes began on October 15, 1906. It became Wesleyan Methodist College in 1909 and Central Wesleyan College in 1959. It adopted its current name in 1994. The main campus of the university is beautifully nestled in an area of more than 250 acres and includes about 20 buildings. It also offers learning centers in Greenville, North Augusta, Columbia, and Charleston. SWU offers an array of degrees and certificate programs through the following academic units:

SWU competes in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and in the Southern States Athletic Conference. Their sports teams are known as the Warriors. They participate in a wide variety of sports such as baseball, golf, basketball, cross country, soccer, softball, and volleyball.
