Overview

Southwest Tennessee Community College is a community college operated by the Tennessee Board of Regents in Memphis, Tennessee, United States. It was formed as a result of a 2001 merger between two institutions, the former Shelby State Community College and the former State Technical Institute at Memphis (STIM). Southwest offers a wide variety of degrees and programs in diverse areas of study.

International Studies at Southwest was established to encourage global experiences through various programs for students, faculty, and staff. There are a variety of student clubs and organizations on campus which contibutes to the overall development of the students.

Southwest’s athletic department fields various men’s and women’s sports teams including basketball, baseball, and softball. The college also has a cheerleading team. Their sports teams are nicknamed the Saluqis.
