Overview
St. Mary's College of Maryland is located in St. Mary's City, Maryland, United States. It was established in 1840. The college came into existence by an act of the Maryland State Board of Higher Education in 1966. It awarded its first bachelor (B.A.) degrees in 1971. The campus spreads over an area of more than 300 acres and comprises of more than 45 buildings. The college offers baccalaureate degrees in more than 20 disciplines of which biology, economics, and psychology are the most popular. The school also offers several master degrees.
The school has more than 100 on-campus clubs and organizations. Some of them are the Cheerleading Club, Asian Studies Club, and Philosophy Club. It has eight national honorary societies that include a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa.
