Overview

St. Petersburg College, or SPC, was founded in 1927 as a private, community college. Initially it was known as St. Petersburg Junior College. SPC has five additional campuses in Pinellas Park, Tarpon Springs, Seminole, Clearwater, and Largo. Some of the academic departments of the college are paralegal studies, international business, technology management, and veterinary technology.

SPC offers awards, scholarships, and grants to the academically, athletically, or artistically talented students. Some of these scholarships are Cele Herring Math Scholarship, Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship Award, and The George F. Hieber, II Scholarship for Excellence in College Preparatory Mathematics.

The most notable alumni of St. Petersburg College are William C. Cramer, former U.S. Representative; Jim Sirmons, former executive vice president for CBS; and George Greer, judge of Circuit Court in Florida who presided over the ‘Terri Schiavo Case’.
