Overview
State University of New York at Stony Brook, also known as Stony Brook University, is a public, research university located in Stony Brook, New York, United States. It was originally founded in 1957 as the State University College. It is one of four university centers in the State University of New York system (SUNY). It enrolls more than 20,000 students.
The campus is spread across an area of 1,364 acres. The University offers a variety of degrees and programs in diverse areas of study. It is organized into several academic divisions:
