Overview
Sul Ross State University, also referred to as SRSU, is located in Alpine, Texas, United States. It was established in the year 1917 and was known as the Sul Ross Normal College. It was named after Lawrence Sullivan Ross, former Texas governor and Civil War general. It gained university status in the year 1969. The degree programs are offered in various areas of study including biology, computer science, and agricultural business. There are two schools under the university:
- Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences
- Arts and Sciences
Among the student clubs and organizations available on campus are Alpha Phi Sigma, Student Government Association, Black Student Association, Sigma Tau Delta English Club, and Paintball Club. Students of Sul Ross State University also publish a newspaper called "The Skyline."
