SUNY At Albany

State University of New York at Albany, also referred to as University at Albany or UAlbany, is a public, coeducational university located in the capital of New York State. It is a senior-grade campus of the State University of New York (SUNY) system. It was originally established on May 7, 1844, under the name of New York State Normal School. In the early 1890s, the institution was renamed to New York State Normal College. In 1948, it gained University rank under the SUNY system and was granted its present title. The University campus, with its associated buildings, occupies a 560-acre plot of suburban land.

Notable alumni of UAlbany include Tom Clarke, President of new business ventures for Nike, Inc.; Steve Guttenber, actor; and John Kourakos, President of Tommy Jeans.
