Overview
The State University of New York at Fredonia was founded in 1826 as the Fredonia Academy. The first classes were held on October 4, 1826. It became the New York State Normal School in 1867 and gained university status in 1948, when it adopted its present name. The university is also nicknamed SUNY Fredonia or Fredonia State. The campus is spread across an area of more than 210 acres in Fredonia, New York. The university is home to a number of student organizations as well. SUNY Fredonia offers more than 80 majors and around 41 minors through the following colleges:

SUNY Fredonia is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III and the State University of New York Athletic Conference. Its sports teams are known as the Blue Devils.
