Overview
The State University of New York College at Cortland is located in Cortland, New York. It was established in 1848 as the Cortland Normal School. It officially became a four-year institution in 1868. The university was one of the founding members of the State University of New York System. The main campus is spread across an area of over 190 acres. It is organized into the following academic divisions:

SUNY College at Cortland is home to several student clubs and organizations. Some of the notable alumni of the university are Ted Demme, film director and producer; Nathan L. Miller, the 43rd Governor of New York; and Zane Lamprey, television host and writer.
