Overview

The State University of New York at Oswego, also known as SUNY Oswego or Oswego State, was established in 1861 as the Oswego Normal School. It was founded by Edward Austin Sheldon. In 1948, the school became the New York State Teachers College at Oswego. In 1962, it became an arts and sciences institution. SUNY Oswego has more than 50,000 living alumni. The main campus is spread over 690 acres on the shore of Lake Ontario in Oswego, New York, and features approximately 46 buildings. SUNY Oswego is organized into the following academic divisions:

  • School of Education

SUNY Oswego officially recognized several Greek Organizations including Alpha Phi Alpha, Delta Sigma Phi, Phi Beta Sigma, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Zeta Chi Zeta, Alpha Delta Eta, Delta Phi Epsilon, Phi Lambda Phi, Alpha Phi Omega, and Phi Kappa Phi.
