Overview

Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences, which is located in New York, New York, was founded by Captain Theodore Melander in 1916. The institute was initially named the Swedish Institute for Physiotherapy. In 1996, it started a 3-year Master's level Acupuncture Program. The Massage Therapy Program is the oldest in the country. Apart from its graduate and undergraduate programs, the college also offers Professional Continuing Education courses to students.

Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences houses the Lillian F. Phillips Library, which has a comprehensive collection of videos, books, and professional journals.

Students pursuing the Massage Therapy program can apply for scholarships such as the Jennifer A. Plumhoff Scholarship Fund, the Richard G. Gilbert Scholarship Fund, and the Patricia J. Eckardt Scholarship Fund. The institute also offers state and federal financial aid such as Parent Loans for the Undergraduate Students (PLUS), Unsubsidized Stafford Loans, and Subsidized Stafford Loans.
