Overview
Syracuse University, or SU, is a private, research university located in Syracuse, New York. It was founded as a university in 1870. A 2008 survey, in the Academic Ranking of World Universities, placed Syracuse University in the top 100 world universities in social sciences. SU offers a wide variety of degrees and programs in diverse fields of study. It is organized into several schools and colleges, which include:
