Overview

Technical College of the Lowcountry, also known as TCL, is located in Beaufort, South Carolina. It traces its history to the formation of the Mather School in 1868. It became Mather Industrial School in 1932. The school merged with Benedict College of Columbia, South Carolina, in 1967. It was renamed Beaufort Regional Training Center in 1970 and Beaufort Technical Education Center in 1972. After a few more name changes, the college adopted its current name in 1988. TCL is divided into the following academic divisions:

  • Arts & Sciences Division
  • Business Technologies Division
  • Division of Health Sciences
  • Industrial Technologies Division

TCL has various student clubs and organizations. Some of them are the Student Government Association, Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, TCL Future Entrepreneurship Club, Presidential Ambassadors, Alpha Lambda Beta, Great Radiographers in the South, and Student Nurses Association.
