The Boston Conservatory at Boston, Massachusetts was founded in 1867 by Julius Eichburg, a violinist and composer. From its inception, the college was open to women and African-Americans. It merged with the National Associated Studios of Music at the start of 20th century to expand its course offerings for the students. The Boston Conservatory offers its students with both undergraduate and graduate programs in the field of performing arts. The programs offered by the college involve areas such as music, dance, musical theater, and liberal arts. The college has the following academic divisions:
