The General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church is located in New York. It opened in 1817, and was chartered by the General Convention. Theodore Dehon, John Henry Hobart and William White were the founders of the institute. The name of the seminary is often abbreviated as GTS. The students at GTS can earn degrees like Master of Arts, Master of Sacred Theology in spiritual direction, Master of Divinity, and Doctor of Theology. The institute has four learning centers:

- Center for Jewish-Christian Studies and Relations
- Center for Lifelong Learning
