Overview

The John Marshall Law School is located in Chicago, Illinois, United States. It was established in 1899. It gained accreditation from the American Bar Association in 1951. The school was named after John Marshall, an influential U.S. Supreme Court chief justice of the 19th century. The John Marshall Law School has programs for part-time and full-time students. It offers both day and night classes, as well as January enrollment. Courses on legal skills, with emphasis on research, writing, and oral argument, form an integral part of the core curriculum. Students can specialize in a specific area of law to get certified or earn a joint degree such as a J.D./LL.M. The John Marshall Law School also offers Master of Science (M.S.) programs.

The school has a Global Legal Studies Program which has been specially designed for lawyers and students from foreign countries. The John Marshall Law School is among a few law schools in the country that has a training program for fair housing law and enforcement. There are more clinical programs in the areas of immigration law, intellectual property law, tax law, employee benefits law, defense, prosecution, and state and municipal government work. The school offers more than five Master of Law programs for attorneys and other law students looking for specialized education in legal issues. The student community has over 50 student organizations associated with community service, social awareness, social activities, and legal discussions.
