The University of Montana, also known as UM, is a state university located in Missoula, Montana, United States. It was founded in 1893. It is part of the University of Montana System. Rolling Stone magazine has called UM the "Most scenic campus in America." Outside Magazine ranks it "among the top 10 colleges nationally for combining academic quality and outdoor recreation."
