Overview

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is located in Houston, Texas and was founded in 1941. It was named in honor of Monroe Dunaway Anderson, who was a cotton trader and banker from Jackson, Tennessee. The U.S. News & World Report ranked the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center No. 1 in the “America’s Best Hospitals” in 2008. Degrees and programs are offered in clinical laboratory science, cytogenetic technology, radiation therapy, immunology, cancer biology, molecular carcinogenesis, and virology and gene therapy. The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is organized into the following schools:
