Overview

Thomas Jefferson University, also referred to as TJU, is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. It was established in 1824 as Jefferson Medical College. The college opened an infirmary in 1825 to treat the poor. It received university status on July 1, 1969, and adopted its current name. The university is beautifully nestled in an area of more than 10 acres in Philadelphia. It records an enrollment of over 2,500 students every year. TJU is organized into the following academic divisions:

  • Jefferson College of Graduate Studies
  • Jefferson College of Health Professions
  • Jefferson Medical College

TJU has recognized several students clubs and organizations. Some of these are the Alpha Eta Honor Society, Jefferson African-American Student Society, Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, American Medical Student Association, Jefferson Arts Organization, Jefferson Association of Indians, and Chinese Students and Scholars Association.
