Overview
Touro College is a Jewish-sponsored, independent institution of higher and professional education. It is located in New York City, New York, United States. Touro College was founded by Dr. Bernard Lander, with the intention to enrich the Jewish heritage and serve the larger American community. It was chartered by New York State in 1970 and opened in 1971. Touro College is named after Judah Touro and Isaac Touro, Jewish community leaders of colonial America.
Touro College enrolls more than 20,000 students. The college offers a wide variety of degrees and programs through several schools and divisions.
There are several student organizations in the college. Some of them are ACM - Computer Science Society, Mizrah Shemesh - Sephardic Student Society at Lander College for Men, Touro College Accounting and Business Society, Touro Communications Club, and Touro's Student Health Science Pre-Professional Society.
