Overview

Towson University, or TU or simply Towson, is a public university located in Towson, Baltimore County, Maryland, United States. It was established in 1866. TU is part of the University System of Maryland. The U.S. News & World Report (2009 edition) ranked Towson University 8th in the Public Universities Masters (North) category for its America's Best Colleges issue.

TU offers more than 65 undergraduate majors, over 35 master degree programs, and over 3 doctoral programs. It is divided into the following academic units.

TU is one of the first colleges in the United States to have a president blog and podcast. Tigerfest is the annual spring festival at TU. The university has an active Greek life. Some of the fraternities and sororities are Alpha Epsilon Pi, Alpha Phi Alpha, Alpha Gamma Delta, and Alpha Phi.
