Overview
Founded in 1887 as Troy Normal School in 1887, Troy University is a public university located in Troy, Alabama. In 2008, the university was ranked the 25th best university in the nation for international students by the Institute of International Education.
The campus consists of more than 35 buildings, spread over 650 acres. In addition, there are three other campuses in Alabama--in Dothan, Montgomery, and Phoenix City--as well as campuses outside the state.
The university focuses on the needs of the adult learner. In addition, Troy University is proud that it has served the men and women of the U.S. military for more than 50 years. Today, Troy continues to operate more than 30 campuses on military bases both at home and abroad.
Troy University is noted for its therapy and counseling, education and teaching, business and management, and security and law enforcement concentrations.

School sports include football, basketball, baseball and track. The university is in the Sun Belt Conference for major sports.
Troy has an active Greek life, which includes more than eight sororities and several fraternal organizations.
