Overview

Truman State University is a public liberal arts and sciences university located in Missouri. It was established by Joseph Baldwin in 1867, as the First Missouri Normal School and Commercial College. Truman is a member of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges. The university enrolls more than 5,000 students annually. It offers degrees in more than 40 undergraduate and over 8 graduate programs. It is organized into the following academic divisions:

  • School of Health Sciences & Education

Truman is home to several student clubs and organizations. The Greek organizations contain more than 20% of the student population in over 15 fraternities and 10 sororities. They are governed by the Interfraternal Council.

Athletics

School sports include football, basketball, baseball, and track. The school is in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association for major sports.
