Overview

Tufts University is a private, research university located in Medford/Somerville, near Boston, Massachusetts, United States. It was founded in 1852 by Universalists who worked for years to open a non-sectarian institution of higher learning in the nation. It was originally established as Tufts College and was renamed as Tufts University in 1954. In Princeton Review's Best 361 Colleges (2006 edition), Tufts was named #7 in a list of the 20 schools in the country where students are happiest. Tufts offers a wide variety of degrees and programs through the following academic divisions:
