Overview

The United States Air Force Academy, also known as USAFA or Air Force, is a Federal military academy located nearby Colorado Springs in El Paso County, Colorado. It was founded in 1954 and the main campus is sits on 18,000 acres at the Air Force base. The Academy enrolls more than 4,000 students per term. It is an undergraduate college established to serve the military officers of the USA.

Forbes Magazine has ranked USAFA 16th in the nation in its "America's Best Colleges 2008" category. The academy has many student activities and USAFA provides several opportunities for recreation to the cadets in the academy incluing the Arnold Hall for social activities, the Military Ball and other community service activities.

United States Air Force Academy provides on-campus housing for 4,600 of its 5,478 (full-time) students (as of 2009-2010). The school requires freshmen to live on campus.

Students may purchase a meal plan which includes 21 meals weekly.

Athletics
