Overview

The United States Military Academy, also known as USMA, West Point, The Point, or The Academy, is located at West Point, New York, United States. USMA is a four-year, coeducational college and is the sole service academy of the United States Army. It was established in 1802 and is the oldest of the nation's five service academies. The students of USMA are nicknamed the ‘’cadets,’’ and the graduates are collectively referred to as the "The Long Gray Line."

The student body at USMA includes students who represent all 50 states and more than 60 nations. More than 950 cadets graduate each spring and are commissioned as Second Lieutenants in the US Army. The 2008 Forbes Magazine report on ‘America's Best Colleges’ ranks West Point as the 6th best college in the country and 1st among public institutions.
