Overview

The University of Akron, also referred to as Akron U or UA, was established in 1870 and was known as Buchtel College. The institution and its assets were transferred to the City of Akron in 1913, and the university gained the status of a state institution in 1967. The main campus of the University of Akron covers 218 acres in Akron, Ohio. UA is organized into the following academic units:
