Overview

The University of Arizona is a land-grant public institution of higher education and research. Founded in 1885, it was the first university in the state of Arizona. The campus is home to over 170 buildings and covers an area of 380 acres.

UA offers over 300 areas of study at bachelors, masters, doctoral and first professional levels. It is organized into various colleges and schools like the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the College of Education, the College of Nursing and the School of Natural Resources, to name a few.

UA recognizes over 40 fraternity and sorority chapters. As of 2006, 10.3% of the male students were members of campus fraternities, while 10.8% of the female population were members of sororities.
