Overview

University of Arkansas, or UALR, was founded in 1927 as the Rock Junior College. At that time, it was part of the Little Rock School District and became Little Rock University in 1957. UALR adopted its present name in 1969. Presently, it is part of the University of Arkansas System. The university is spread over 150 acres in Little Rock, Arkansas, and features more than 40 buildings. The academic divisions of UALR are organized into many schools and colleges including:

UALR has a number of on-campus fraternities and sororities which are governed by the National Pan-Hellenic Council, Interfraternity Council, and Panhellenic Council. Some of these Greek Letter Organizations are Chi Omega, Kappa Sigma, Alpha Phi Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Omega Psi Phi, Sigma Nu, Iota Phi Theta, Sigma Gamma Rho, Phi Beta Sigma, and Zeta Phi Beta.
