Overview
University of Connecticut - Avery Point was established in 1967 as the University of Connecticut's Southeastern Campus. It was originally the estate of Morton Plant, a steamship, railroad, and hotel magnate. Commonly referred to as UConn Avery Point, the campus is located in Groton, Connecticut.
UConn Avery Point offers both undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Students can choose from courses in Native American studies, coastal studies, maritime studies, and American studies. In addition, UConn Avery Point offers the Bachelor of General Studies degree, and several transfer programs of study.
Students of UConn Avery Point publish a newspaper called "The Point", and a literary magazine known as "The Spectrum". They are also members of various clubs and organizations. Among those available on campus are the Associated Student Government, the Photography Club, the Sailing Club, the Gay Strait Alliance, the Multicultural Club, and Toast Masters.
