Overview
The University of Detroit Mercy is a co-educational, Roman Catholic university located in Detroit, Michigan. The school was founded in 1877 as the Detroit College. It later expanded and its name was changed to the University of Detroit. The Sisters of Mercy founded the Mercy College of Detroit in 1941. In 1990, the University of Detroit merged with Mercy College of Detroit, creating the University of Detroit Mercy. The university was officially established in 1990.
The University of Detroit Mercy was ranked in the top level of Midwestern master's universities in the U.S. News & World Report's ‘America's Best Colleges’ 2009 edition. UDM enrolls over 5,000 students every year.

The university's athletic teams are known as the Titans. Its men's teams take part in basketball, lacrosse, cross country, soccer, fencing, tennis, golf and track & field.
